AwraAI turns your voice into text. To do that, we need to handle your voice and your words. This page explains what we keep, why we keep it, and how you can remove it — in plain words, because most of our users are not lawyers and neither is this page.

What we collect

  • Your account details. Your name, and your email address or phone number, plus a password (we store the password scrambled — we cannot read it).
  • Your recordings. When you record, your voice is sent to our server to be turned into text. We keep the recording and the transcript in your account so you can search and copy them later.
  • Captions audio. If you use captions, we receive the audio from the video you picked (not the video itself) to create your subtitle file.
  • Usage counts. How many words you have used this week, so we can apply the free weekly limit fairly.

That is the whole list. We do not collect your location, your contacts, your photos, or advertising identifiers. The app contains no advertising or analytics trackers.

Who processes your audio

Our server uses trusted speech services to turn audio into text: ElevenLabs for Amharic and OpenAI for English and other languages. They process the audio on our behalf and on our instructions. They are not allowed to use your audio for their own purposes, and we never sell your data or share it with advertisers — with anyone, for anything.

How long we keep things

Your recordings and transcripts stay in your account until you delete them. You can delete any single transcript in the app, or delete your whole account in Settings.

What happens when you delete your account

Deleting your account permanently removes your account details, all your transcripts, and all your recordings from our server. One thing remains: a scrambled code made from your email or phone number, together with your current week's usage count. We keep this so the free weekly limit cannot be reset by deleting an account and creating a new one. The code cannot be turned back into your email or phone number, and it is used for nothing else.

How we protect your data

All traffic between your device and our server is encrypted (HTTPS). Access to the server is restricted, passwords are stored scrambled, and your recordings are visible only to your account. No security is perfect, and we will tell you if something goes wrong that affects your data.

Your rights

  • See what we hold about you — it is all visible in the app.
  • Delete any transcript, or your whole account, at any time.
  • Ask us questions or request a copy of your data at support@awraai.com.

We follow Ethiopia's Personal Data Protection Proclamation (1321/2024). If you use AwraAI from the EU, you also have your GDPR rights, including access, correction, and erasure.

Children

AwraAI is not intended for children under 13.

Recording other people

AwraAI is built for dictating your own words. If you record a conversation, it is your responsibility to make sure everyone in it agrees, as your local law requires.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will tell you in the app before the change applies — not after.
